Aerostar Festival web video interview.

The Aerostar Festival is built in Romania and being imported into the U.S. by Light Sport Flying of Bartlett TN. factory built ready to fly aircraft under the new Light Sport Aircraft category.

The wing on the Festival is an all-metal, three spar, using cantilever construction, and uses the same airfoil as the Aeronca Champ. The fuselage and tail section are also all metal 6061 alodined aluminum for strength and corrosion protection.

The tri-cycle landing gear features a steerable shock absorber equipped nose gear  with 5.00 x 5 tires. The main gear is equipped with Matco hydraulic disc brakes.

The heated and ventilated cabin is 42 inches wide, and features an upward lifting canopy, with structural roll over protection. The Festival comes with adjustable seats, and a three point seat belt system.

Controls are standard dual stick and rudder control, with toe brakes and manual flaps. The rudder and elevator are dynamically balanced with mechanical elevator trim standard with an electric trim available. All control systems are push pull tube activated except the rudders which are cable operated.

Power is supplied by the Rotax 912 ULS. 100 HP aircraft engine, using a three blade composite ground adjustable propeller.

According to Rick Pellicciotti of Light Sport Flying the plane is "aimed at flight schools, there is a big shortage of planes for Sport Pilot training, and the Festival has a very rugged landing gear and is built for that environment."

The Festival cruises at 110 mph, burns just over four gallons of fuel per hour and has a 21 gallon fuel capacity. Stall is 41 mph with flaps extended. Climb rate at gross on a warm day is 700 feet per minute.

Everything that might be considered a "wearable" item is sourced in the U.S. Thus all your tires, brakes, wheels, instruments, avionics are available from U.S. manufacturers.

The plane has been flying in Europe for over five years, with 20 aircraft currently flying in Europe, and two flying in the U.S.
