Gemini Industries UltraStar part 103 legal powered parachute.
|
|
|
Randy Snead of Gemini Industries introduced the
Gemini UltraStar at Airventure 2005. The UltraStar is a legal part
103 ultralight coming in at only 194 lbs.
Weight reduction has not come at the cost of
strength or safety, it has been accomplished by welding the aluminum
tube fuselage together, eliminating bolts and brackets. |
|
The use of Easy Roll tires, and powering the UltraStar with the MZ 34 30 HP
engine, equipped with electric start, which weighs only 42 lbs. has
also helped keep the weight down. The back to basic
UltraStar comes a 4 point harness, but with no instruments or additional
accessories.
The UltraStar uses standard powered parachute style
controls with a throttle for acceleration, climbing and decent, and foot
pedals for steering left and right.
Randy is using a Performance Design 360 chute, which is a
new rectangular chute designed for the UltraStar, which is capable of lifting
from 600 to 800 lbs. The unit comes fully assembled ready to fly and
fits easily into the back of a standar pick up truck box.
