Wicks Aircraft supply now offering the Hornet and Super Hornet.

Jim Kaiser General Manager of Wicks Aircraft Supply
was at Airventure with a new Hornet Rotax 65 HP powered light sport aircraft
from Higher Class Aviation of Ramona California.
For over 30 years Wicks has been known as the
"experimental aircraft builders friend, "supplying the industry with
some of the best Stitka spruce around." |
|
Wicks offers custom cutting of Stitka spruce main spars and
T stringers. Wicks also stocks one of the largest selections of MS bolts,
nuts, washers, and cabling in the United States. Recently Wicks has
expanded their line of products into pilot supplies such as head sets,
radios, and hand held GPS units. According to Jim "Wicks
Aircraft has been looking for an
entry level light sport aircraft to sell alongside the TL Sting, Titan
Tornado and T-51 that they already handle." Higher Class Aviation was
contracted to build the Wicks Hornet, which they delivered in January of
2005.
Jim has been working closely with the factory with
improvements in the design which make it more "conventional pilot
friendly." These include moving the electric trim switch from the dash to
the top of the control stick. A control for locking the hydraulic brake
system, and the addition of large tundra tires for off field landings.
The Wicks Hornet is powered by the new Rotax two stroke
65 HP liquid cooled aircraft engine. With this engine climb comes in at
around 700 feet per minute, with a cruise in the 80 to 85 mph range, and
stall around 40 mph with flaps deployed. But according to Jim the "engine
that makes the Hornet into a fire breathing dragon is the Rotax 912."
The unique suspension system on the Hornet features
airbags on the two main landing gear and nose wheel, which allows for over
5 inches of travel.
The Hornet and Super Hornet are available in both kit
form and ready to fly. For more information on contact:
