| He also had on display the second
of his Odyssey aircraft equipped with the Rotax 912 S 100 HP
aircraft engines. The craft was recently completed by a customer.
The plane was all done out with custom leather interior, XM radio,
and a three blade in cabin variable pitch propeller.
While the
Odyssey with the 912 installed may look the
same as other Odyssey's
there are some major differences. The 912 version has a heavier duty
wing, a thicker windshield, with extra supports in the tail boom,
and vertical stabilizer. This increases the VNE on the aircraft to
150 mph, and the gross weight to 1360 lbs.
These additions have not increased the build time
for owners since they are all structural components that are
prefabricated for the builder at the factory. All fibreglass
components such as the seats, enclosure, and wing tips are supplied
ready to paint.
The fuselage is already welded, the wing leading
edges including the main spar are factory assembled, as are the
stabilizers, and control systems. This means that the builder does
not require any fixtures or jibs to complete his craft.
The Odyssey was first introduced in 1995.
The kit should take the average builder about 350
hours to complete.
