Web video clip interview on the Ramphos amphibious ultralight and light sport aircraft trike.
Ramphos USA introduced the Ramphos Amphibious Trike at this years Sun N Fun.

The Ramphos is a "flying boat" that was first introduced into the European market four years ago.

The retract system is a simple single lever setup, release and push forward to put the gear down release the lock, lift up and lock.

The craft comes ready to fly and is available with several wings with the 15 meter wing being the faster. Power is supplied by the Rotax 65 hp 582 with tests currently ongoing on the 65 hp Hirth engine, which according to the distributor is a lighter, and simpler installation.

When ready to fly the craft climbs out with the 15 meter wing at around 750 feet per minute, and cruises at 55 to 60 mph.

A 30% increase is thrust is experienced when the engine is equipped with the COAX-P 3.7 to 1 reduction drive rather than a Rotax C or E drive. The reason for this is that the COAX-P gives total center line thrust because it uses two counter rotating blades which eliminate "P" factor.

The unit was originally developed for para-gliders, is extremely quiet, and comes standard with an electric start built in. There are a number of units flying in Europe, and one in Austria currently has over 200 hours on it.
