It also eliminates electrical noise, has no high voltage, is non
fouling, with a faster cleaner burn, is moisture insensitive, has
exceptional high alt itude capabilities and cold starts an engine better
than a standard spark plug.
According to Smart Plug designer Mark A Cherry "without any moving
parts the Smart Plug knows exactly when to fire" "plus it gives you
increased engine power, less emissions, and more fuel efficency."
The system was on display and flying in a highly modified Skyraider.
The builder and owner was quite happy with the installation and indicated
that on first installation he had to increase the pitch of this propeller
because of an increase of some 400 rpm.
Currently the unit requires some battery power source to start the
ignition process, but once the engine is fired the battery power is no
longer needed. Life expectancy of the units is 500 hours, at which time
replacement of the center section will be required.
