(approx.) | "The seats are
reclined spreading your weight over your entire body rather than
just your seating area."
"Flying at altitudes between 3500 and 5000 feet cruise came in at
around 115 mph. at 5,000 rpm. burning 3.5 gallons of fuel per hours
(the plane has 26.6 gallons of fuel on board for 6 hours of flight
time). While at 9500 feet actual ground speed increased to 125
mph."
At altitude the pilot can engage the MEC cabin heater for
heat.
The SportRider uses a welded metal fuselage, combined with
semi-monocoque blind-riveted airframe construction and composite
cowlings and covers.
It has all metal wings for performance and durability. The wings
have a folding wing option for storage and transport.
The controls system is stick and rudder with dual stick and
rudder pedals, and center mounted throttle and flap handle.
It is a tri-cycle gear, tractor configuration with a steerable
nosewheel. Hydraulic disc brakes are standard, with toe brakes an
option.
The SportRider is engineered to meet the design standards of
factory produced Light Sport Aircraft and the needs of the Light
Sport Aircraft home builder.
OC Sport Planes became interested in the SportRider after seeing
it at a fly-in in Texas. They then purchased a plane from
distributor Chuck Reynolds of Aveo USA who flew their plane in from
Texas in early December.
The reason for purchasing the SportRider over other craft was the
sleek design, quality of construction, and performance. Orange
County Sport Planes is offering the plane ready to fly under
the new light sport aircraft category.
They will be providing sales and service for the south western
U.S. from their 20,000 square foot facilities located at Fullerton
Airport (KFUL) just minutes away from Disneyland, Knott's Berry
Farm, Angel's Stadium, Dodger Stadium, Hollywood and all of the
major commercial airports.
